Our Story
Our story begins in Potsdam, New York with Chris Frewin, who wanted to build a company to support civil service workers of all kinds: fire fighters, police officers, forest rangers, and EMTs. Chris though about how he could increase national recognition for groups across the United States - a charity fund or organization wouldn't be enough exposure. He wanted something physical that would be eye-catching and get people's attention across the country, sharing stories of police and fire departments nation wide. He was inspired by the charity based business model of Tom's Shoes, and later Parks Project, so an apparel company was on his mind. Chris realized he was also creating a lot of art and designs as a hobby. So, combining these art skills with a charity business model like Tom's, Siren Apparel was born!
Chris was contacted in the summer of 2013 by Alejandro Cremades, founder of Rock The Post, a crowd funding site similiar to Kickstarter. In this campaign, Siren Apparel was able to acheive $2000 in revenue and donated $500 to five different police and fire departments.
Then, in the winter of 2013, Chris's collegue Ben Petroski managed to secure $500 in funds by acheiving 3rd palce at the Upstate New York Small Business Competition.
From 2014 to 2016, Siren Apparel was on a hiatus as Chris went through graduate school and was working abroad in Europe, not creating or connecting with the community.
Hi all,
Chris here - I've retreated from this project as I didn't ever get sales. If you're still interested in ordering some of our apparel, check out the redbubble link below!
